The day started off with getting ready at the beautiful Four Seasons Scottsdale. With a Venue like the Four Seasons Scottsdale, the possibilities are endless for your wedding. Outdoor venues showcase the stunning desert scenery, rocky peaks, and saguaro forests. Indoors, seamlessly integrates with the desert atmosphere. That’s exactly what Sen and Xiaoxiao dreamed up when they decided to say their I Do’s in Scottsdale, Arizona.

One of our favorite parts of the day was capturing the traditional ceremonies that took place. It started with the Chinese Wedding Door Game. The groom sets out to the bride, where he will inevitably be blocked at her door by her friends. The friends and bridesmaids will play the door game with the groom and his attendants. This game originated from ancient times which implies that the bride is a lovely girl and her family and friends do not want to marry her away. The groom will be blocked at the bride’s door, and her friends will try to stop him from entering by asking questions about the bride, a way to test if he really cares about her. It is a joyous and good-natured “bargain” game essential in Chinese weddings.

Following the Door Game was the Wedding Tea Ceremony. The parents of the Bride and Groom sit in chairs, while the newlyweds kneel before them and serve them tea. In return, the newlyweds receive lucky red envelopes stuffed with money or jewelry.

The Wedding Ceremony was beautiful with a secluded setting.

A striking Sonoran Desert backdrop, and numerous water accents with dramatic fire features. Xiaoxiao took center stage as she begins her walk down the aisle from a charming stone staircase, making for a romantic fairy-tale entrance. Our hearts swelled when we saw Sen’s face as Xiaoxiao enters. As they hold each other and Xiaoxiao tears up, you know they are a match made in heaven.

Following the Ceremony was a romantic Cocktail Hour held on the Terrace. The beautiful sunny day transformed to a vibrant fuchsia and coral sunset, finally settling into a deep indigo night that showcased the sky’s sparkling beauty. The Reception was filled with love and laughter. Family members gave beautiful speeches (bringing most who were there to tears) more fun games were played, lots and lots of dancing, and of coarse a Sparkling Exit!

This was more than just a wedding. It was an adventure and a journey into the love of two incredible people. We were honored to be a part of this amazing celebration!
